I just learned that my chiropractor has and infrared sauna, and I can’t wait to try it out. I’ve gone in for a basic adjustment before, but I’ve never really taken advantage of all of the other services they offer. My Dad Gave Me a Flashlight

I have just got my first car and my dad is really panicked about the fact that I am going to be able to go out in the world on my own just about any time that I like. Of course that is not true at all, I am under a curfew and I can not go any place after it gets late at night. At any rate they set me up with a real emergency kit. The best thing they got me was something that is called a Blazeray flashlight, or a tactical flashlight like they use in the military or if you are a police officer. I’ve been in the personal fitness training industry close to 20 years. A lot has changed in terms of health and fitness training, from aerobics to circuit training and everything in between. Even diet programs have changed. From non-fat diets to low carbs diets, it seems with each passing year there is a new fad when it comes to workouts and or diets. But one thing remains the same. The people who get the results they want are the people who log their programs daily. I call it, “keeping score”…. When we keep score, we try harder. The last thing we want to do is write down, that we didn’t do what we were supposed to do. Having it in the back of your head is one thing, but having it in ink, on paper, is a whole other can of worms. Have you every noticed that we keep track of our bank accounts and our car maintenance schedules better than our bodies? Why is this? Without our health, we have nothing.

The Way To Beat Alzheimer’s

Imagine that you have a tank full of vital water… the only source of your drinking water for several miles. The tank is in abundance and has been created so that it can last you your entire lifetime. Well, this description is analogous with your brain. Suppose that your brain had a leak. Researchers at the Washington University in St. Louis went a step further to investigate the APOE gene – a gene involved in cholesterol metabolism. Although everyone has the gene, those with a specific variation of the APOE gene called e4 are 15 times more likely to develop Alzheimer’s disease than those who do not bear the variant. Of the 201 people in the study, most of those who carried the APOE e4 gene had larger amyloid plaque build up than those without the variation. And what was extremely significant was that those who did not put health and fitness as a priority, that is, the inactive subjects seemed to have a progressive accumulation of the Alzheimer’s inducing amyloid plaque.

This is in stark contrast to those who had the gene and at the very least walked, or jogged for 30 minutes 5 times per week. These volunteers had a plaque accumulation comparable to those who did not carry the variation of the APOE gene.

Dr. Ronald Petersen, Director of the Mayo Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center, said in a research a few years back that physical exercise, done on a regular basis is “probably the best means we have of preventing Alzheimer’s disease today, better than medications, better than intellectual activity, better than supplements and diet.”
